William Noah Marvel, 93, of Chestertown, MD passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026 at Abbey Manor Assisted Living in Elkton, MD.
Bill was born in Sudlersville on October 10, 1932 to the late John C. and Martha Mae Marvel. He attended school in Sudlersville and in October 1953 married the love of his life Mary Webb. Together they would spend almost 70 wonderful years together. In the same year Bill was drafted into the United States Army where he spent 16 months serving overseas in Korea. He proudly served in the Army and US Army reserves for almost 10 years.
Bill started his career at Angelica Nurseries upon his honorable discharge from active duty in the Army. In a career that spanned over 46 years, he made an impact on all aspects of the Nursery. When angelica added another location , he was their first employee at the new Maryland farms. He ended his time at Angelica as a Field Supervisor / Digging Foreman. He loved what he did and took great pride in work, displaying a hard work ethic that was passed down to his children and grandchildren. Along with his work at Angelica he also loved helping his son Tom on the farm. Some of his favorite aspects of the farm was prepping the fields and planting sunflowers for their dove hunts.
In addition to his work at Angelica and on the farm, Bill enjoyed all aspects of hunting. In his younger years he raised ducks and quail for release on the farms , and loved rabbit & quail hunting with his brothers, who all had bird dogs at the time. Later he enjoyed his time spent in his garden, in which he took great care. Above all though, Bill was a family man. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His favorite times were those spent with his loving family and memories they created together.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 69 years Mary Webb Marvel and brothers Roy, Donald and Charles Marvel.
He is survived by his children, Deborah Davis and Tom Marvel (Pam); 3 grandchildren, Tara Peace (Will), Martin Davis (Katie) and Brooke Mulford (Trevor); 6 great grandchildren, Hayden and Drew Davis, Hill and Carson Peace and Hayes and Tripp Mulford and a special family friend Hugo Torres.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, August 30 from 12 PM to 1 PM in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L Schaech, 118 W Cross St. Galena, MD where the funeral service will begin at 1 PM. Burial will be held at the Still Pond Cemetery.
