William David Leager, 78 of Galena, MD passed away on May 4, 2024 at Compass Regional Hospice, Centreville, MD.

David was born on April 12, 1946 in Chestertown, MD, son of the late Seaford Leager, Jr. and Gladys Miller Leager.  He was raised in Locust Grove and was a 1964 graduate of Galena High School.  He moved to Harbeson and Church Hill where he owned Innerwoods Farms and in 1988 he moved to Galena where he owned Buena Vista Farms.  David also raised black angus cows in Galena and in Iowa.

He also worked as a real estate agent for Herb Willis and Phil Whiting until opening his own brokerage, Sassafras River Realty.  In Iowa he operated Land Source Realty in Bloomfield.  Dave ran a hunting service from 1987 through 1995.

He was a member of the Queen Anne's County Farm Bureau and the Chesapeake Ruritan Club.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Sue Ellen Leager and his brother Allan S. Leager.

David is survived by his children, Chris Leager (Mary Ann) of Camden, SC, K. Paul Lucas (Ann-Marie) of Exline, Iowa, Annette Moore (Bill) of Trappe, MD, David Wade Leager (Gabby) of Galena and Sharon Clark (David) of Church Hill, MD; a sister Carolyn Thompson (Jim) of Wyoming, DE; 12 grandchildren, Elizabeth Clark, Maranda Clark, Sammy-Mae Leager, Stephen Leager, Cassie Dyott, James Leager, Charity Leager, Katryna Dowling, Zoe Lucas, Ryan Lucas, Makayla Moore and Madisyn Moore; 3 great grandchildren and special friend Patricia Bittner.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 9 from 6 to 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where funeral service will be held on Friday, May 10 at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Shrewsbury Cemetery, Kennedyville, MD
