William (Bill) Bennett Cleaver, III, died at Bayleigh Chase Nursing Home in Easton, MD on March 23, 2023, following a long illness which resulted from a fall.  He was born in Chestertown, MD on April 7, 1938, to William B. Cleaver and Mildred Copper Cleaver.

After graduation from Galena High School in 1956 Bill completed studies at Goldey Beacom and then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Korea.  Upon discharge from the Army he completed his education at East Carolina University.

Bill's career in government service included work in accounting and banking.  At the time of the savings and loan failures in 1980's, while working for the Federal Home Loan Bank Board, he traveled the Country to assist in repaying insured depositors.

After retirement Bill enjoyed following baseball, reading, volunteering and travel having visited fifty countries and all fifty states.  He lived in Alexandria, VA most of his life.

In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Janet Gerlock, his niece, Robin Gerlock, and his nephew, Ryan Seth.  Surviving are his sisters, Susan Seth (Bill) and Linda Wilson (Mark), his niece, Melisa Gosnell, nephew, Michel Gosnell and nephew, Andrew Seth.

A private graveside service will be held in Galena Cemetery, Galena, MD.
