Wayne Morris Wright passed away early Monday morning in the arms of his loving daughters.

Mr. Wright was born on August 23rd, 1941, in Chestertown, MD, the son of John M and Alice K Wright.  Born and raised in Kent County, he graduated from Chestertown High School in 1959. After graduating high school, he joined the Delaware National Guard where his aviation interests blossomed- serving as an aircraft mechanic as well as test pilot for gyrocopters.

As a 4th generation farmer, he spent his whole life devoted to the farming community of Kent County on both the land and in the air.  While farming full-time, Wayne continued to develop his aviation interests, eventually earning his commercial pilot's license and ag operator's license.  Wayne worked for John Beiler at Massey Airfield until John's retirement when Wayne started Chesapeake Ag Air which he owned and operated until his death.

He was a member of the Kent Pilots Association and supported Scheeler Field by operating his ag operation out of Scheeler Field until its closure when he licensed and opened Wright Airfield in Worton MD.  He was an active member of the National Agricultural Association and served as an officer in the Northeast Region of the NAAA, he was a member of the Quiet Birdman Aviation Fraternity, Wilmington Hanger, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and Sun-n-Fun, Kent County Farm Bureau, Chestertown High School Alumni Association, and the American Legion.

When not in the air, Wayne was found racing one of his Corvettes, riding one of his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, or just enjoying conversations with his friends at the hangar.

Mr. Wright is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Susan H. Wright.  He is survived by his three daughters Susan Wright-Taylor (Kevin) of Worton, Marylou Wright (Jeffrey Amorello) of Key Largo, FL, and Jennifer Wright (Charles Kealey) of Worton, 4 grandchildren, Madeline Taylor, Peyton Taylor, Cooper Kealey, and Carter Kealey; brothers, Allan K. Wright of Tuscon, AZ, John L. Wright (deceased 3/9/24) and David Wright (deceased).

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 14th from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Galena Funeral Home, Galena MD followed by funeral services at Shrewsbury Parish Church, Kennedyville MD at 1 pm.  Burial in adjoining cemetery.
