Warren G. Spencer Jr, of Church Hill, MD passed away on September 28, 2021 at his home. He was 89.

He was born in Cape May, New Jersey, on July 22, 1932, the son of the late Warren G Spencer, Sr and the late Marguerite Kavanaugh Spencer. He was a Korean War veteran and a proud Cape May native.

He graduated from North Carolina State in 1956 with a Bachelors Degree in Forestry Management. He moved to Maryland and worked for the State of Maryland DNR Forest Service for several years, performing field forestry work in Kent and Queen Annes counties. After leaving the state job, he accepted a position as a Watershed Forester for the City of Baltimore, a job he held for 15 years before taking early retirement in 1991. After retiring, he became a self employed private consultant forester assisting with timber harvests and planting tree seedlings throughout the State of Maryland.  It was once said by a colleague that he planted nearly a million trees during his career, mostly in Kent and Queen Annes counties. He retired from forestry work at the age of 80.

He had a positive outlook on life, and a great sense of humor. He loved his work, loved his children and his family. He was a lover of music, poetry, and the ocean. He looked forward to returning to Cape May year after year to catch some of September's "Golden Days", and to frolic in the surf.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Frances Johns and Suellen Bridges.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Spencer and his children, Mimi Roe (Bud) of Price, MD, Mavis Jones (Joe) of Chestertown, MD, Janine Wetzel (Andy) of Chestertown, MD, and Rachel Lockwood (Eddie) of Church Hill, MD, his youngest sister, Lilda Spencer of Bermuda, and his longtime caregiver, Sandie Dibenedetto of Worton, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sara Dion (Cory), Will Roe, Bobby Arnold, his great grandson, Harrison Dion, and many loving relatives.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 16 ^th at 1:00 p.m. at the Church Hill Park, 1130 Sudlersville Rd. Church Hill, MD. This will be an outside event, so please dress casual.
