Valada (Sissy) Freeman, 73 of Middletown, DE passed away on August 12, 2024.
Valada was born in Elkton, MD on May 22, 1951. Daughter of the late Louis and Helen Wilmore.
She grew up in Cecilton, MD graduating from Bohemia Manor High School. She married the
love of her life Leo Freeman on July 17, 2010. Valada worked at Campbell Soup in Chestertown,
MD for 15 years. After retiring from Campbell soup, she then worked for Appoquinimink School
District where she retired in 2014.
Along with her parents, Valada is preceded in death by siblings Dwayne, Annisa, Phyllis, Joseph ,
Ernestine, and niece Nichoa. She is survived by her husband Leo Freeman, devoted son Troy
Jones, grandchildren Dazia and LaShauna Jones, siblings Thiara Williams, Beverly Hollingsworth
(Arthur), and Stacy Wilmore, aunts Helen Smith and Mamie Wynn, uncle James Wilmore, cousin
Anna Raison, devoted friends Blanche Johnson, Jean Williams and Margaret Wesley along with
many other loving family members, including a host of nieces and nephews, some of which she
raised as her own.
She will be remembered for her love of card games, lottery, and going to the casino. Most of all,
she will be remembered for her famous pound cakes! Sissy's big, beautiful smile and classy style
will truly be missed.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 17 from 9 to 11 am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L.Schaech, Galena, MD where service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be private.
