Thomas Alan Parker, 80 of Kennedyville, MD passed away on March 21, 2020 at home with his loving wife and 2 sons by his side.

Tom was born on January 28, 1940 in Irasburg, Vermont, son of the late Lloyd and Sabra Lanou Parker.  The family moved to Concord, NH and Tom graduated from Concord High School in 1958.  He attended Michigan Tech and graduated in 1962 with a degree in Metallurgical Engineering.  He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1963 and was deployed to David Monthan AF Base in Tucson, AZ where he became Commander of a Titan 2 Missile site at Green Valley, AZ.  This was during the Cold War and the missile warhead was aimed at a city in Russia.

While taking classes at the University of Arizona, he met his future wife Virginia A. Williamson, and they were married on July 5, 1967.

Next was a tour of duty at Patrick AFB in Cape Canaveral, FL, where he studied Missile Range Technology.  This was the time Apollo II landed a man on the moon on July 20, 1969.

From Florida, he was assigned to Hickam AFB in Hawaii where he was on the Inspector Generals Team during the Vietnam War.  At that time, he also enrolled in the University of Hawaii and obtained a master's degree in business administration on May 20, 1973.

He was then transferred to Hanscom AFB in Massachusetts where his son Bryan Thomas was born.  Before Bryan was 2 Tom received orders to Ramstein AFB in Kaiserslautern, Germany.  His second son Barry Robert was born at Landstuhl Army Hospital in Germany and the family lived in a small Village (Erzenhausen) for 4 years. His work included the design of AWACAS Stealth Bomber.  At the end of the Cold War in 1980 Tom was assigned to the National Security Agency in Ft. Meade, MD.

He retired from active duty in 1984 with the rank of Lt. Col. and continued to work for Martin-Marietta and AAI Corp. in Cockeysville, MD.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lloyd Parker and his sister Polly Eldridge.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ginny; his sons, Bryan (Leslie) of South Riding, VA and Barry (Kelly) of Columbia, MD and 3 grandchildren Logan, Kaylee and Caleb.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, June 5 at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown or the Animal Care Shelter for Kent County.
