Thomas A. McDonald, 72 of Galena, MD passed away on August 30, 2022.

Tom was born on June 1, 1950 in Longview, TX, to Lloyd "Cheese" and Rowena McDonald. In his early years, his parents along with his four dynamic brothers moved to Newark, DE. He began playing football at Newark High School and continued on to play at the University of Delaware. He proudly represented Newark High School as a Guard in the first Blue and Gold All Star Football game.  Tom was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving 4 years during Vietnam. In 1974, he married the love of his life, Christine and went on to raise 3 children. He worked as an Instrumentation Technician at Stauffer Chemical, Hercules, MacDermid and retired from Hurst Corp in 2017. After a short retirement, Tom served as the Mayor of Townsend, DE from 2019 to 2021.

Tom passionately instilled his hard-working values and strong work ethic in his children; which they didn't love at the time, but now they are forever grateful. We also cannot forget his wonderfully playful side. From instigating epic water balloon fights and food fights in the house to creating intricate wooden puzzle boxes for his children to struggle with on Christmas morning only for them to realize they worked for an hour to get socks. He really knew how to create fond memories.  He found joy in tinkering in the garage, knife sharpening, telling jokes, playing games and proving how he was always right. He will be fondly remembered and forever missed.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his 3 brothers, Randall, Phillip and Stephen McDonald.

Tom is survived by his beautiful wife of 48 years Christine Hastings McDonald; children, Erin Kinderman of Newark, DE, Travis McDonald (Amy) of Shreveport, LA and Maggie Dimichele (Kyle) of Galena, MD; brother, Christopher McDonald and 7 grandchildren, Gus, Lincoln, Jack, Rebecca and Aviva Kinderman, Mary Hirt and Travis McDonald.
