Obituary

Sibylla "Sibil" Husfelt, 86, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2021 at South Peninsula Hospital, Homer, Alaska.   She was born December 11, 1934 in Kitzingen, Germany to Anton and Maria Erbar. She married the love of her life, Henry D. Husfelt who preceded her in death in 1987.

Sibil was known for her beautiful smile and caring touch.  To many of the children around Earleville she was simply, "Aunt Sibil".  Her life was a living example of Ephesians 4:32 — "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."

For over 25 years Sibylla worked at Nannette's in Elkton, sewing children's clothing.  After Nannette's closed, she worked for W. L. Gore until her retirement in 2000.   After retiring she moved to Havre de Grace, Maryland to live with her sister, Elisabeth and brother-in-law Jerry Hewitt. She spent many years

Sibylla is survived by her sisters Elisabeth Hewitt and Inge Pope; brother Heinz Erbar and wife Roswitha; niece and Goddaughter, Janet Hewitt Cully and husband Brian with whom she lived; nephew Jerry Pope and wife Dessa and niece Heidi Rios with whom she was very close; and many additional nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sisters Luise Erbar and Marga Zimmerman; brother Hans Erbar; brothers-in-law Jerry Hewitt and Charles Pope.  All of whom she loved and touched deeply.
