Sandra Dickson Hamilton, 85 of Kennedyville, MD passed away on March 19, 2026 at Brickwood-Rock of Ages, Rock Hall, MD.  After living with Alzheimer's dementia in the past few years Sandy left this earth and moved on to her next adventure.

Sandy was born on September 27, 1940 in Washington, D.C. daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth VanderSys Dickson.  After graduating from high school she obtained her bachelor's degree then returned in her later life to earn master's degrees from Johns Hopkins and Loyola Universities.  Sandra started her working career as an elementary school teacher. Later she worked as a reading specialist then became a Pastoral Counselor.  She dedicated her life to guiding, helping, and advocating for others.

Sandy was creative at heart.  She loved writing, crafting, photography, singing, and playing the piano.  She would often write about life in her daily journal.  Sandy worked and lived through some tremendous challenges in her life, however these did not stop her from pursuing her dreams.  She loved her family, other people, her dogs, growing flowers and cooking.  Anywhere she was she could make friends and she enjoyed visiting with anyone.  Sandy truly lived a full and productive life, one that will be appreciated and remembered by all who knew her.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her husband of 64 years, Douglas Ray Hamilton, children Sheryl Winans and her husband Mark of Germantown, MD, Beth Velletri and her husband Chris of Wilmington, DE and Steve Hamilton of Kennedyville, MD; a sister Joanna Finnell; 2 brothers, Timothy Dickson and William Dickson; 6 grandchildren Ben Ericson, Luke Ericson, Jacob Winans, Caitlin Winans, Sam Winans and Thomas Winans; 4 great grandchildren Luna, Rowan,  August Tessa and one on the way.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27 at 11 am in Shrewsbury Cemetery, Kennedyville, MD with the Rev. Henry Sabetti officiating.
