Obituary

Sammie Lee Wright was born July 25,1948 in Buena Vista, GA to the late Matthew and Bertha Wright, Sr.

He received his education in the Georgia Public Schools, where he was known as the class clown and the life of the party. Sammie was also known for his awesome athleticism playing basketball for the Buena Vista Tigers averaging 30-40 points per game. He also played baseball in high school where he was a pitcher and first baseman.
After graduating from Buena Vista High School in 1968, he relocated to Cecilton, MD with his family. Sammie worked with his father as a laborer for the Duponts of Hexton Farms. In 1969 he was employed with Chrysler Corporation until he retired in 2008. May 20,1972 he was united in holy matrimony to the late Linda Patricia Ann Wright. From their union there were five children.
Sammie enjoyed watching sports, westerns, shooting pool, cooking out on the grill, entertaining family & friends, gardening, completing projects around the house and keeping an immaculate yard, where he would tell people don't walk on my grass, eating crabs, corn cobb He also enjoyed sports cars especially Chevelles, Camaros, and he always wanted a Corvette but he settled on a Challenger.His mondays always consisted of calling his sister in law Betty, Southfield MI and his daily calls to his siblings to ensure they were all on one accord. He was a Diehard Eagles fan and a member of Union Bethel A.M.E Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Bertha Wright Sr., his brother Matthew (Bubba) Wright Jr.,Wife Linda Patricia Ann Wright, Daughter Leticia Yvonne Wright, Son Gregory Navelle Wright, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories 3 children, Son Cranston L Raison Jr., of (Newark, Delaware), Daughter Karen Atkinson (Jerry) of (Philadelphia Pa), Daughter Morita L Wright(Omar) of (Newark, Delaware), Daughter in law Julie Taylor of (Newark, Delaware). 7 Grandchildren, Justin(Tyria), Jeffrey(Aleah) Gregory, Ashley (Dustin), Latisha (Amber), Chloe, and Alessa. 11 Great-Grandchildren: Naja, Johann, Sarai, Sophia, Gabrielle, Alaina, Ryan, Devyn, Malachi, Devon and AvaJoy. 2 Sisters, Lola Butler(Charles) of Middletown, Delaware, Tennette Wright(Orlando, Sr.) Camden, Delaware, 2 Brothers Glen Wright Sr., Elkton, Maryland and Jerome Wright Sr., (Concetta), Townsend, Delaware. 1 Sister in law Betty Wright, Southfield, Michigan. 2 God children Lionel (Nuck) Hollingsworth (Carla), Ashley Wright Reed (Kimwann). Special close friends , Al Tomme, Morgan Garnett, Brian Henderson, Hester (Sonny-Boy) Wise & Rev. Flora Whitaker. Host of Aunts, Uncles, Neices, Nephews, Cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 17 from 10 am to 12 noon in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where funeral service will begin at 12 noon.
