Robert Eugene Plato, Sr., 64 of Rock Hall, MD passed away on November 20, 2021 in Compass Hospice.

He was born on June 11, 1957 to the late Vernice Simmons Covany and John Emory Plato, Sr. Robbie worked most of his life on the water, fishing, crabbing and diving for oysters.  In his later years he accepted the position of supervisor of maintenance at Ospray Point Marina until health issues forced early retirement.  Rob loved his job and spent the last 20 years devoted to the business.  He always felt that each and every employee that would come and go over the years were an extension of his family and tried to stay in touch with everyone.

Rob had many interests but will be remembered by family and friends for his collection of junk.  He would always amaze everyone by re-purposing just about anything.  He loved the Holidays and liked forward to decorating to the max.  July 4 ^th was always special because of his entries in the parade.  At the end of each day, he looked forward to going on Face Book, watching for new pictures or updates concerning the 15 grandchildren.  Rob's proudest accomplishment was his sobriety where he would share how his life changed for the better over 25 years ago.

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Leah J. Plato; his 3 children by a previous marriage, Sara Plato, Sheila Plato (J.T. Hare) and Bobby Plato, Jr. (Jessica); stepchildren, Franklin Kelley, Robert Kelley, Jr. (Corey), Jonathan Smith (Chelsie) and Gracie Smith; sister Debbie Nelson (Kevin); Theresa Clark whom he considered as his sister (Dave); stepbrother James Covany, Jr.; 15 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a niece whom he cherished Felecia Plato Ingram (Cory).

Along with parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather James Covany, Sr.; brothers Johnny and Mark Plato and a stepsister Deborah Thurman.

A viewing will be held on Monday, November 29 from 11 to 12 pm in Raum Chapel, Skinners Neck, Rock Hall, where funeral service will begin at 12 noon.  Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers his wish was that donations go to Raum Chapel Church or the Rock Hall Vol. Fire Dept.
