Robert Paul Payne, 88 of Still Pond, MD passed away on December 31, 2025 at Bayhealth - Kent, Dover, DE.

Bob was born on September 16, 1937 in Darby, PA, son of the late Marion P. and Christine Sack Payne.  In July 1943 his family moved to Coleman's Corner operating a farm.  In 1955 he graduated from Chestertown High School.  He began working on the family farm 'Pine-Croft' in 1949 where he continued to farm, milk and live throughout his life.

In 1959 he married Jean Clark and raised 2 sons on the family farm. Bob served with the Maryland National Guard in Chestertown for 10 years.  Mr. Payne was a member of Still Pond Methodist Church, past member of Betterton VFC, Kent County Dairy Herd Improvement Assoc (25 years), Chester Lodge #115 AF&AM, Maryland & Virginia Milk Co-Op Board (10 years), and Still Pond Cemetery Board.

Bob had a 50-year association with Echo Hill, teaching over 150,000 children how to milk cows and feed calves, which was one of his greatest pleasures.

When he was young, he enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles and more recently he was known to travel on his motor scooter.  He enjoyed talking to people, working with his dairy cows and enjoying life with his wife, family and friends.

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Dorothy Ream and a brother Charles H. Hamann.

Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Clark Payne, their sons Jimmy Payne (Cristal) and Robert Payne, Jr (Brenda).; brother Pete Conley, 2 grandchildren Jason A. Payne (Cindy) and Eric N. Payne (Jacki) and 4 great grandchildren, Austin Cathers, Lincoln Payne, Alex Payne and Bowen Payne.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 10 from 11 am to 12 pm at Still Pond Church, 12801 Still Pond Rd., Still Pond, MD where funeral service will begin at 12 pm.  Burial will follow in Still Pond Cemetery.
