Richard L. Nickerson, Sr. 'Nick,’ 79 of Chestertown, MD passed away on August 7, 2026, at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown.

Nick was born on February 20, 1947, in Chestertown, son of the late Samuel R. Nickerson, Sr. and Marian States Nickerson. He was a lifetime resident of Chestertown where he had worked for 25 years with D&R Supply Company, owned and operated the Village Tavern from 1988 – 1999 and as a manager for C-Town Liquors until 2020.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Terry Nickerson; a baby Amy Lee and his brothers S. Robert Nickerson, Jr. and Wayne Nickerson.

Nick is survived by his children, Richard Dickie Nickerson, Jr. (Beverly) of Chestertown and Amy Nickerson (Beefalo) of Rock Hall, MD; grandchildren Mary ‘Emmie’ Nickerson (Will), Madison Anne Hanyok, Elizabeth ‘Ellie” Legg, Madeline ‘Maddie’ Legg and Bennett Allan Dulin and his loving companion Robin Dulin and her children Erin and BJ.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 14 from 6 – 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 am. Burial will follow in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown, MD.
