Norris Edward Hicks, Sr., affectionally called 'Billy', son of the late Oscar and Ethel Hicks was born January 28, 1930, in Chestertown MD. He was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice, sons Keith and Bruce; siblings, Clarence Hicks, Robert Hicks, Oliver Hicks, Doris Brown, Carrie Hicks, Donald Hicks, Dorothy Iverson and Nora Wilson.

He was educated in the Kent County School System and served in the US Military. A Sergeant in the US Army, he earned the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars and the United Nations Service Medal.

Following an honorable discharge from the US Army, after a lengthy employment, he retired from the Campbell Soup Company.

He was a member of Potter's House Ministries, under the pastorate of Bishop Charles Tilghman where he served as Trustee until the time of his illness.

He exemplified what a godly father is. He was a father, supporter, banker, confidant, and friend. His guidance and unwavering faith were a true example of courage and resilience in the face of adversity. His faith was firm and his conviction strong. He knew the God he served.

A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and mentor to many, he laid down his weapons of warfare and entered eternal rest on December 20, 2021. He now joins the cloud of witnesses that await the sound of the trumpet. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. To God be the glory for a life well lived and loved.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his special friend Jean Macer; children, Rene, Norris (Teresa), Inez (Ernest), Wayman (Lori), 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren: siblings, Florabelle Perkins, Ernest Hicks (Regina), Melvin Hicks (Annie), and Loretta Freeman.

" But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore, comfort one another with these words ."   I Thessalonians 4:13-18 NKJV

The service will be Tuesday, December 28 ^th . Viewing 12 – 1. Celebration of Life will begin at 1. Held at The Potter's House Ministries, Bishop Charles Tilghman, Pastor.  Arrangements by Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech.
