Norman J. Mead, 73 of Galena, MD passed away on July 12, 2024 at Compass Regional Hospice Center, Centreville, MD.

Mr. Mead was born on September 24, 1950 in Hornell, NY, son of the late Robert and Betty Pell Mead. After graduating from Eastridge High School in Irondequoit, NY, he enlisted in 1969 with the U.S. Marine Corps, and was honorably discharged in 1971.  He furthered his education at Houghton College, where he played varsity soccer and baseball.  Norman worked as a chef-cook for area restaurants, starting his career with Mr. Money at Money's Restaurant.  His career also included the Granary, Kitty Knight House and Schaefer's Canal House spanning over 40 years.

He was a member of the Blood Bank of Delmarva where he was proud to donate over 11 gallons of whole blood over the years.  He also enjoyed cutting wood with his friend Donnie Cleaver.  He also loved working on the farm and growing green beans.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Bob and sister Patricia.

Norman is survived by his wife of 36 years, Lynn Mead and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately.
