Obituary

Norma Kathryn Beale, 80, of Warwick, MD passed away at home peacefully on July 8, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Norma was born on September 3, 1944 in Philadelphia, PA, to the late John and Peggy Kyle Essaf.  She was raised in Glenolden and graduated from Interboro High School in 1962.  After starting a family and moving to Boothwyn, she decided to go to nursing school.  After graduation, she began her career at Sacred Heart Hospital then moved on to family medicine at  Brookhaven Medical Center and Chadds Ford Medical Center.  She was a caring person and that showed not only with her family and friends, but through her care for her patients.  After her retirement from nursing, Norma worked at Money's Farm Market for several years.

Norma was a people person who loved to socialize and people watch.  She enjoyed trips to the Delaware Beaches and walking the boardwalks.  She loved hosting family and friends for summer holidays and for Thanksgiving.  Growing up, she always dreamed of living on a farm with horses and other animals; this dream came true when she and Denny purchased their farm in Warwick, MD in 2000.  On the farm, she enjoyed being outside in the sun, sitting by the pool, and doing farm chores.  In her quiet times, she enjoyed watching General Hospital and all the police and hospital dramas on TV as well as reading until the early morning hours.

Along with her parents, Norma is preceded in death by her daughter Dana Flinn.

She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Dennis Beale; her children Lisa Diduch (Wally) of Bear, DE, Scott Horner (Amy) of Deltona, FL, Linnette Epps (Mark) of Conway, SC, and Dan Horner (Eliza) of Burke, VA; a son-in-law Gregg Flinn of Telluride, CO; siblings Peggy Law (Bruce) of Bear, DE, Kaye Baker (Mike), and Jack Essaf both of Aston, PA; grandchildren Kortney, Felicia, Kody, Joey, Connor, Colton, and Gaby; and one great-grandchild Jacob.

A visitation will be held on Saturday August 2 from 11 to 11:30 am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where a memorial service will begin at 11:30 am.
