Nancy Dunham Eliason Drazga, of Kennedyville, MD, died Sunday, December 29, 2019. She was 72. The daughter of the late Thomas W. Eliason and Virginia Hoopes Eliason of Chestertown, Nancy was born on May 14, 1947 and a member of the Chestertown High School class of 1964. She was an active Girl Scout and attended the 1962 Girl Scout RoundUp in Burlington, VT. She attended Connecticut College and received her BA from the University of California at Berkeley. She met her husband, Bill Drazga during their studies at Dick Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, California, and married him in 1982. In the early 1980s, she directed the Serendipity Choir of Los Angeles, CA. After her return to the Eastern Shore in 1984, she and Bill opened The Mustard Seed Bookstore together; taught piano students; and played music in several local churches, including the Rock Hall United Methodist Church, the Chestertown Church of the Nazarene, and the Church of the Holy Spirit in Ocean City, MD. Nancy homeschooled her daughter, Faith, and taught Latin and English literature to many local homeschoolers from the mid-1990s until 2018. In the late 1990s, she worked as an editor for Great Christian Books, in Elkton, MD, and for PrestonSpeed Publications in Mill Hall, PA. She co-wrote On the Banks of Big Elk Creek with Barbara Zahn and was instrumental in the republication of the works of English novelists G. A. Henty and Charlotte Yonge. A lifelong scholar, she studied French, Latin, and classical Greek, and received her MA in English from Washington College in 2010. In addition to her literary and musical interests, she was a skilled knitter and seamstress, a novice weaver, and a passionate book collector. In addition to her husband, Nancy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Faith and Isaac Acker, of Reston, VA.; three sisters, Judy Eliason of Millsboro, DE., Debby Eliason of Portsmouth, NH., and Ginny and Jeff Silva of Morgan Hill, CA; and her nieces and nephews: Henry, Thomas, Joseph, James, Susanna, and Maria Silva, and Grace Martinez. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Ramsay Eliason. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Parish, Kent, on 4 January 2020. Memorial donations may be made to Compassion International ( www.compassion.com ) where Nancy sponsored two children from Ghana and Ecuador.
