Mildred Burris Casey, 99 of Millington, MD passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023 at Compass Regional Hospice, Centreville, MD.

Mrs. Casey was born on June 4, 1924 at McGinnes Corner, daughter of the late Olin Berle Burris and Ruth Younger Burris.  She was a lifelong resident of Queen Anne's County where she graduated from Sudlersville High School in 1941.  In 1943, she married Charles Casey, Sr. and began their family, raising 4 children. In 1952, they opened Casey's Garage in Pondtown and later a branch in Sudlersville.  In 1979, they moved their family business to Chestertown and retired in 1990.

Mrs. Casey led a life of gratitude and service for her family, friends and community. She was very active in her earlier years and only slowed up in recent years, but she remained involved by reading the minutes of meetings she once attended and calling friends to find out what was happening.

Mrs. Casey was involved in many organizations and committees in Queen Anne's County. She served on the following committees:  Social Services Board, Child Council, Home Rule Study, Jail Study, and Five County Commissioner Study. She served on the Board of Hospice.  She was a member of the PTAs in Sudlersville Elementary and Middle School, Church Hill Elementary School and QACHS.  She held many offices in the PTAs.  She was a member of the Band Boosters.  She also served on the County Council and was President for 17 years.  Mrs. Casey was a Honorary Life Member of the State and National Congress of Parents and Teachers.  She served on the MD Congress Board of Directors for 26 years. Mrs. Casey was a member of the Double Creek United Methodist Church for 70 years where she was a Sunday School Teacher, treasurer of the cemetery fund and served on the church council.  She was a life member of the Sudlersville Fire Company, serving as a past Vice-President and Secretary. Mrs. Casey had many interests which included reading her Bible daily, gardening, watching game shows and volunteering at the firehouse.  She loved to sew and crochet.  She was the number one fan of her grandchildren at sporting events. She loved calling and sending cards to her family and friends. She raised and sold many tickets for fundraisers and "No one ever said no to Mildred."

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles Casey, Sr. in 2006, a sister Hilda Blackiston and a son in law Chuck Banks, Sr.
