Obituary

Michael "Dash" John Lipchock, age 74, of Earleville, MD, passed to eternal life on August 8, 2024.

Michael was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Edward and Mary Lipchock on May 22, 1950. He lived his life primarily in Philadelphia, Yeadon, West Chester, and Ijamsville, MD, before retiring in Earleville, MD, on the Chesapeake Bay. He was a first-generation college graduate, earning an associate's degree from Temple University before later returning to college to earn a bachelor's degree from West Chester University and a master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He spent 37 years working for Bell Atlantic, later Verizon, where he retired as a director of network planning. He was a fourth-degree knight in the Knights of Columbus (#11815, Assembly 2595) for 25 years and particularly enjoyed working the Friday fish fries each Lent.

In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley and loved spending time with friends and family on the water and always made sure everyone–especially his grandchildren–had lots of toys (boats, jet skis, kayaks, etc.) to play with. He initially worked as a mechanic to put himself through college and prided himself on completing home and automotive projects throughout his life for himself and others. He grew to love traveling during retirement, particularly going on cruises with a close group of friends. He was never one to miss out on a joke, particularly if bathroom humor was involved. He will be most remembered for his endless generosity.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen (Sweeney) Lipchock, as well as three sons: Michael (Amy), Mark (Jimmy); and James (Sarah), four grandchildren: Michael, Jacob, Simon, and Jane, and three brothers: Edward, John, and George. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Daniel.

Family, friends, and others are invited to attend a viewing at the Galena Funeral Home (118 W. Cross Street, Galena, MD 21635) on August 13th from 9:00–10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass at Saint Dennis Catholic Church (153 N. Main St., Galena, MD) at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Saint Dennis Catholic Church towards their beautification fund.  P.O. Box 249 Galena, MD 21635
