Melody Davis, 1967–2026

Melody Davis, 58, of Middletown, Delaware, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on May 2, 2026.

Melody’s life was rooted in a deep and unwavering relationship with God. From an early age, her spiritual journey began when, at just five years old, she was introduced to Christ through a simple invitation to First Pentecostal Church in Elkton, Maryland, under the leadership of Bishop Huey Lee & Mother Lou Ann Harris—an encounter that ultimately led her entire family to the Lord. Melody and her family served faithfully for over 20 years. That defining moment shaped a lifetime devoted to faith, ministry, and service.

A devoted student of the Word of God, Melody had a profound love for Scripture. She was passionate about going deeper—studying biblical themes, exploring the meaning of God’s Word, and continually growing in her relationship with Him. Her life reflected her deep faith—anchored in prayer, grounded in truth, and expressed through her love for people and her commitment to service.

Born on July 10, 1967, to the late Pastor James L. Davis Sr. and Pastor Anna Mae Davis, Melody was raised in New Castle County, where she graduated from Delcastle High School in 1985 and later attended the University of Delaware.

Faith, Ministry, and Calling

Melody’s spiritual journey included seasons of faithful service that shaped her leadership and ministry. She was a dedicated member of the Church of Pentecost in Jacksonville, Florida, where she served as a soloist and singles leader. Her time there deepened her calling and spiritual foundation before she later moved to Louisiana.

Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Melody returned home, answering God’s call to continue her family’s legacy of ministry. She became the Lead Pastor of Olivet Pentecostal Church of Love in Galena, Maryland, the church founded by her parents, and served faithfully in that role for more than 18 years.

She was a dynamic speaker and a sought-after, anointed singer and soloist, using both her voice and her message to inspire, uplift, and minister to God’s people. Whether through preaching or song, Melody carried a powerful presence that touched lives and drew others closer to God.

Most recently, she was a member of Life Focus Center, The Pentecostals of Middletown, under the leadership of Pastor Glen Stickler, where she continued to grow, serve, and fellowship.

After the passing of her parents, Melody continued their ministry with strength and grace, remaining faithful to the church her father built and the calling God placed on her life.

Professional Life and Community Impact

In addition to her ministry, Melody was a dynamic leader in her professional life. With more than 20 years of experience training and empowering leaders, she served as a certified corporate trainer and a highly accomplished Realtor. In 2006, she discovered her passion for real estate and went on to become a top-producing Team Leader of The Melody Davis Group at RE/MAX 1st Choice, earning numerous accolades including the 100% Club (2007–2010, 2023–2025), Platinum Agent (2021–2022), and ranking in the top 10% of sales during her career.

Known affectionately as “Mel Sells,” Melody brought excellence and authenticity to everything she did. She loved building meaningful relationships—hosting client events, organizing community gatherings such as ice cream socials and movie nights, delivering pies during Thanksgiving as a personal touch of appreciation, and doing regular “pop-bys,” where she would drop off monthly gifts to her clients. Because of this genuine care and consistency, her business was built on relationships, with approximately 95% coming from referrals and returning clientele.

Melody’s bubbly and outgoing personality meant she never met a stranger—she had a natural ability to connect with people and make everyone feel seen, valued, and welcomed. She was deeply engaged in the Bayberry and Middletown communities, serving on her community recreation committee and volunteering with organizations such as Toys for Tots and Pack-a-Purse.

She also had a deep love for animals and cherished many beloved pets over the years, including Penny and Honey. She is survived by her beloved Pepper, who was truly the light of her life—and whose wardrobe rivaled Melody’s own.

Melody loved traveling the world and enjoyed shopping, but her greatest joy was pouring into others, encouraging them, and helping them grow—both personally and spiritually.

Family

Melody is survived by her brother, James L. (Felicia) Davis Jr. Richmond, Virginia; her sisters, Nicole Davis of Dover, Delaware, and Moneca (Corey) Davis-Graham of New Castle, Delaware; her beloved nieces and nephews, Jamira Terrell, Darren Davis, Takaysha Swanson, Zion Davis, Jordin (Karen) Graham, Morgan Graham, and Brandyn (Cherie) Graham; and a wide circle of extended family, church family, and dear friends.

Service Information

A viewing will be held on Friday, May 15, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Worship Center 250 Booth Street Elkton, Maryland

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.

Burial will follow at Olivet Hill Cemetery, where Melody will be laid to rest beside her parents.
