Mary Lou Osswald (daughter of Dorothy and George Jones) born on October 25, 1941, in Dauphin, PA, passed away on August 20, 2024, in Chestertown, MD. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, known affectionately as Grandma Woo.

Mary Lou's love for her family was at the center of her life. She took great pride in her three sons, Dave, Daryl, and Dan Osswald, each of whom she raised with unwavering support and encouragement. A conversation with her almost always included their latest accomplishment, and showing off their most recent photo. Mary Lou was an awesome Mom who created spectacular opportunities and adventures for her boys. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Molly, Jakoby, Eli, and Turner, as well as her great-grandchildren Jax, age 8, Val, age 4, and the newest addition, Aurora, whom she cherished meeting in June.

An ambitious and intelligent woman, Mary Lou graduated from the Miami University of Ohio, Bachelor of Arts, and later earned her master's degree in Biology from Millersville University. She took her education seriously and enjoyed a fulfilling career which she carried through different cities and states in search to find the perfect location for her family.

Mary Lou spent the last couple decades of her life living on the Chester River on the Eastern Shore. She loved watching the ospreys and wildlife that populated the area and water surrounding her home. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, often spending time with a good book, enjoying walks and hikes, and canoeing. Her quick-witted personality brought laughter and joy to those around her, and she was known for her steadfastness and active spirit.

She is survived by her beloved siblings, James Jones (Virginia), Susanna Jones Schaum; as well as sons and spouses Dave (Donna), Daryl (Mel), and Dan (Nicoll) who will carry on her memory. Mary Lou Osswald will be remembered for her fierce love, her encouraging nature, and the indelible mark she left on her family and friends. She will be missed terribly.

The Memorial Service will be private.
