Mary Ellen Lord Larrimore of Chestertown, Maryland, passed away peacefully December 30, 2024 at Golden Rule Assisted Living in Rock Hall, Maryland. Mary Ellen was 87.
She was born in Federalsburg, Maryland on October 24, 1937, the daughter of the late Robert F. Lord Sr. and Lucy Elizabeth Marine Lord. She attended Chestertown High School and graduated with the Class of 1955. Shortly after graduation, Mary Ellen married Roland T. "Bucky" Larrimore, started a family, and a very diverse and active life. Mary Ellen was a licensed insurance agent, real estate agent, graduated from Chesapeake College and Washington College, continuing education coordinator, English professor, and a whole host of many activities in her "spare time".
Mary Ellen's greatest passion was her family, not only her immediate family, but all those on the "family tree". Obviously genealogy was an interest, but she also enjoyed education, travel, cooking, socials, local history, sewing, quilting, photography, grandchildren, and Christmas. She also had the "gift of gab"; whether it be catching up with the times, being a "sounding board", giving advice when solicited, or just plain oldconversation; she enjoyed the chat.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children Bucky Larrimore, her brother Robert F. "Bobby" Lord, and a son Mark Larrimore. She is survived by her brother C. Thomas Lord of Ocean City, MD; one daughter, Enid Lum and husband Tommy of Fredericktown, MD; three sons, Garrett and wife Lisa of Pinckney, MI, Matthew and wife Tammy of Belmont, NC, John and wife Eugenia of Chestertown, MD; six grandchildren, Ryan, Jaclyn, Lexi, Katie, Gavin, Mark, and Gabriel; and one great granddaughter, Marley.
The family of Mary Ellen is extremely grateful to Golden Rule Assisted Living for the daily care of her during her final years.
As per Mary Ellen's wishes, services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to a charity of your choice.
