Marion G. Coleman, 98 of Chestertown, MD, passed away on December 4, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Coleman was born on February 4, 1923, son of the late L. Hodge and Rena Dewey Walls Coleman.  He was raised in Kennedyville where he learned to dairy farm.  He continued to farm throughout his life and also worked for Eastern States Farmers Exchange, Agway, Agrico and Dupont, retiring in 1985.   Mr. Coleman was an avid gardener, tending to his acre garden. He was very active in the community, volunteering at the fire house, QA Election Board, Crumpton Cemetery and umpiring ball games.  He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, hunting grouse especially in Garrett County, where he was a founding member of CRJV Hunting Club, traveling and loved to softball, soccer and bowling.  He also volunteered to care for the abandoned cemetery across the road from his home for 60 years.

Along with his parents, he was preceded on death by his first wife of 46 years, Jeanette Sparks Coleman and his siblings, Hodge, Ronnie, Alan, Mildred, Helen and Betty.

Mr. Coleman is survived by his wife of 23 years, Doris Coleman, children, Neal (Terry) of Stevensville, Cheryle of Catonsville, Jerry (Katie) of Carney's Point, NJ and Keith (Pat) of Middletown, DE; 3 grandchildren, Blain Avery and Derek and 1 great grandchild, Sidney.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 9 from 6 to 8pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 West Cross St. Galena, MD, where funeral service will be held on Friday, December 10 at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Crumpton Cemetery.

Memorials may be offered to Compass Regional Hospice or Crumpton VFC.
