Margaret N. Smiley, 78 of Warwick, MD formerly of New Jersey, passed away on April 1, 2019 in her home surrounded by her family.

Margaret was born on March 25, 1941 in Weymouth, MA, daughter of the late John and Catherine Gurney Nicholson.  She was raised in Weymouth where she met her husband Donald.  After their marriage in 1963 they made their home in New Jersey where she raised her family and worked as a nurse for 40 years.  After raising their children in Cinnaminson they retired to the Jersey Shore for 10 years before moving to Warwick in 2008.  Margaret was past president and vice president of Greenfingers Garden Club, and a member of the Cecil County Library Book Club.  She enjoyed breeding Labrador Retrievers, sewing, gardening, reading, cooking, yoga, traveling, entertaining and spending time with family and friends.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings, Patricia Cross, Joan Petrillo, Roberta Knight, John Nicholson and Catherine Owen.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 56 years, Donald E. Smiley; their children, Sandra Dalton (Brendan) Medford, NJ, Sharon Smiley (Ted Maciejewski) of Wall, NJ and Donald Smiley (Karla) of Garnet Valley, PA; siblings, Rose Slattery, Josephine Tanner and James Nicholson of Mass.  She was lovingly referred to as Mimi by her 7 grandchildren, Maura, Nicole and Matthew Dalton, Nicholas and Emily Maciejewski and Sara and Katie Smiley.

A gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 9 to 10:45 am at St. Charles Borromeo, 2500 Branch Pike, Cinnaminson, NJ, followed by a Mass at 11 am.
