Margaret Ann O'Neill 'Maggie', 68, of Chestertown MD passed peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on March 15, 2024 at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton.
Maggie was born on December 11, 1955 to the late Bessie Mae (Rowsey) and James Franklin Blackiston and was a life long resident of Chestertown. Maggie loved animals, puzzles and gardening, as well as cooking shows and British TV shows. She was an avid reader who enjoyed westerns and detective stories. She also loved her girls nights of dinner, shopping and laughing with lifelong friends Karen Coleman and Sylvia Christian. Most of all, Maggie loved her family. She cherished her time with and caring for her daughter, grandsons and nieces and nephews.
Maggie dedicated her life to caring for others. She worked as a CNA for over 40 years, starting at Magnolia Hall Nursing Center in Chestertown, later becoming the Resorts at Chester River Manor. She retired in 2020. She was also a private caregiver for many individuals and families in Kent and Queen Anne's Counties.
Along with her parents, Maggie is preceded in death by her dog and loving companion Opie.
She is survived by her daughter Christy O'Neill (Ed) of Croydon, PA; 3 grandsons Eddy, Ben and Jacob; Siblings James Franklin Blackiston Jr. (Judi) of Chester, VA, Linda M. Blackiston of Chestertown, MD, Michael Allen Blackiston Sr. (Sondra) of Chestertown, MD; Aunts: Catherine and Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In Lieu of Flowers, the family would be very grateful for any contributions to help with Maggie's final expenses. Contributions may be offered directly to the Galena Funeral Home, 118 W. Cross Street, Galena, MD 21635 C/O Maggie O'Neill
A Memorial Service is being planned at a later date.
