Madeline C. Cornelius, 80 of Rock Hall, passed away on January 15, 2022 at the Resorts at Chester River Manor.

Mrs. Cornelius was born on July 31, 1941 in Wilmington, DE, daughter of the late William E. and Frances Seery Cain.  At the age of 15 her family moved to Rock Hall where they owned Cain Seafood.  After graduating Rock Hall High School in 1959 she married Roby and together they raised 2 daughters.  She worked along with her husband, crabbing, picking crabs and geese, was a foster parent to 7 and also baby sat for area children.  Madeline was an active life member of Rock Hall Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Roby Cornelius in 2003; a granddaughter, Kathryn Johnson, and brothers, William Cain, Jr. and Lewis Cain.

Madeline is survived by her daughters, Robyn Halsey (Fontaine) of Orange, VA and Denise Cornelius of Rock Hall, sisters, Betty Ainsworth and Jean Russell both of Wilmington, DE; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, Zach Johnson (Emma) and their children Adam, Owen and Nora of Simpsonville, SC, Rebecca Ridgeway (Timothy) and daughter Asher of Richland, NC, Rachael Oliver (Austin) and son Cash of Orange, VA and Brandon Morris of Rock Hall, and many special nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Friday, January 21 from 12 to 1 pm in the Rock Hall Seventh Day Adventist Church, 21366 E. Sharp St. Rock Hall, MD, where funeral service will begin at 1pm.  Burial in Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
