Lois Wrathall Smith, of Chestertown, MD, passed away peacefully at her home on July 14, 2023 at the age of 96.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and cousin.

Marian Lois "Lois" was born on July 6, 1927, the only child of the late Thomas Ehret Wrathall and Margaret Bridwell Wrathall. She met her husband William "Bill" Smith, the love of her life, in 1946 and they were married soon after.  They had a baby girl Kathleen C. Smith (Geier) and 3 years later a baby boy Robert J. (Jeff) Smith. Lois and Bill moved to Chestertown, MD in 1983 to be closer to Bill's family and enjoyed their life on the river there together.

Lois was a true Washingtonian, a proud American and was always "dressed to the nines". She was firm in her beliefs and never wavered from them. She loved her family immensely and was very proud of each and every one of them.

She worked as a secretary for the Amalgamated Transit Union in Washington, DC but was known best for running the hospital gift shop for 30 years in Chestertown.

She loved to entertain and was known for her amazing hospitality. She loved her life, her wine and celebrating life's important events with family and friends.

Lois was beyond proud of her family tree and she leaves behind her children Kathi (Bob), Jeff (Jen), grandchildren Rebecca (Ryan), Sarah (Phil), Mitchell (Rose), Tori (Martin), and great grandchildren Hayley, Madison, Brooke, Meghan, Samantha, Molly, Paisley, William, Theo & River, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of neighbors and friends.

We are so grateful to everyone who has been a part of her life.  Thank you for helping her along her journey. We are forever thankful for the Coakleys, the Lott family, Charlotte, Teresa & Tara.  Thank you for being there when we couldn't be, you are family.

We are sad and heartbroken that our matriarch has left us. She will forever be missed by so many.

Services will be held privately, and a Celebration of Life event will be in early August.
