Obituary

Karen Ross Hurless, 61, of Sudlersville, passed away on August 19, 2024, at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Easton after a courageous battle with cancer.

Karen was born in Chestertown on May 8, 1963, to the late Verne and Edna Lucht Ross.  She grew up in Kent County where she was a 1981 graduate of Kent County High School.  She later attended Salisbury University earning a bachelor's degree in English. After graduation she worked for Amity Bakery where she would meet her future husband, David Hurless.  A few years later she would start her 30 plus year career with Dixon Valve & Coupling Company in Chestertown.  She ended her career as the Director of Marketing.

Karen valued her time in nature.  She enjoyed being in the garden with her plants, flowers and produce.  She also loved walking, hiking, and time spent at the beach.  In her quiet time, she also loved reading a good book.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years David R. Hurless; son Isaac Hurless (Katie); daughter Nikki Hurless (Bob King); Sister Barbara Dove (Tim); grandson Arthur Hurless; niece Danielle Mendoza (Gerardo) and her dogs Riley and Kiyo
