Joseph Baroux Nelson, 93 of Middletown, DE passed away on February 28, 2024 at Delaware Hospice at St. Francis.

Mr. Nelson was born on July 9, 1930 in Essex, MD, son of the late Edward B. and Josephine Hartman Nelson. After graduating from Patterson Park High School, he furthered his education at Loyola College obtaining his BS degree in accounting.  He worked for Crown, Cork and Seal and retired from Pennwalt Corp in 1992.  He continued working as a private tax accountant for many years.

Mr. Nelson was a member of Cecilton Lions Charities where he has served as president.  Also, a past Grand Knight and 4th degree Knights of Columbus.  Mr. Nelson served on the board at Cecil-Kent Medical Group and the finance council at St. Dennis and St. Joseph Parish.

Along with his parents he was preceded by sisters, Mildred Baker and Gertrude Grymes.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ida Hennish Nelson; children Nancy Ann Bowen (Mark) and Joseph B. Nelson, Jr.; 5 grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica, Jeffery, Alyson and Jason and several great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on March 22, 2024 at 11 am at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 153 N. Main St. Galena, MD, where interment will follow at Old Bohemia Cemetery, Warwick, MD.
