John J. Rath, Jr. (Jack) passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 18 in Galena, MD.

Jack was raised in Woodlyn, PA and attended Our Lady of Peace Elementary School and St. James High School in Chester, PA.  He was the son of the late John J. Rath, Sr. and Margaret Walsh Palmer.

Jack enlisted in the US Navy and worked for Verratti Beer Distributors before joining Scott Paper in Chester, PA, retiring in 1994.  In his retirement years, Jack enjoyed boating on the Sassafras River, crabbing, golfing and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles, 76ers and Phillies.  He was also an active member of Moose Lodge 248 in Fort Pierce, FL and enjoyed spending time with fellow Moose members.

His most precious time was spent with his family and friends, specifically his wife Rose and 2 grandsons, Steven and Sean.

Jack's survivors include Rose (Rosemary Cziraky), his daughter Kathy, his daughter and son-in law Jackie and Steve Pilkington, his grandson Steven Pilkington and his fiancée Stef O'Donnell, and Sean Pilkington his youngest grandson.

A private burial will be held in Galena Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Galena Vol Fire Dept. or the Galena Lions Club.
