John Henry Myers, Sr. 86 of Dogwood Lane Farm, Worton, MD passed away on October 2, 2021 at Compass Regional Hospice Center, Centreville, MD.
John Henry was born on January 1, 1935, son of the late John Christian and Pauline Woolford Myers. He has lived on Dogwood Lane Farm his entire life where he was a grain and dairy farmer having the only remaining Guernsey herd on Delmarva. He also did custom work for other families. John Henry was a 1952 graduate of Chestertown High School where he was in the first class to attend school for 12 years. He enjoyed roller skating, hunting, playing cards with friends and managed and coached fast pitch softball teams, but loved to farm. He will be remembered for his love of storytelling, bowling in the mixed bowling leagues and going to dances and country concerts with his wife Polly. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church, charter member of the Kent County Ruritan's and a past director of the Kent Co-op Southern States.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Pauline 'Polly' Daniels Myers in 1998. His second of 18 years Mary Lucht Brice Myers also preceded him in death in 2018.
John Henry is survived by his children Debra Myers Davidson and her husband Randy and John Henry Myers Jr. and his wife Kathy; 2 sisters, Anne Myers Virdin and Barbara Myers Jacquette; four grandchildren, Christopher Lee Davidson, Katie Davidson Jeanes, John Henry Myers III and Paul Benjamin Myers; three great grandchildren, Lillian Louise Jeanes, Greer Sophia Davidson and Rose Pauline Jeanes. He is also survived by nieces and nephew, Libby Virdin King, John Virdin, Christine Wells, Laura Mills as well as great nieces and nephews that loved visiting him on the farm.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 7 from 6 to 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 8 at 11 am in St. James United Methodist Church 10965 St. James Newtown Rd. Worton, MD. Burial in adjoining cemetery.
Memorials may be offered to St. James U.M. Church or Compass Regional Hospice.
