Joanne May Wood, 82 of Townsend, DE passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
Mrs. Wood was born on June 3, 1943 in Baltimore, MD, daughter of the late Joseph Glorioso, Sr. and Catherine Biggs Glorioso. She worked as an administrative assistant for Mercy Hospital for years, but her favorite job was being a homemaker and raising her children. She was a phenomenal cook who loved hosting family dinners, especially Italian and her stuffing recipe that was passed down thru generations.
Joanne was a devoted catholic, reciting the rosary every day and praying to the Blessed Mother. She had a heart of gold and loved, cared and prayed for everyone. She was a member of St. Joseph Parish in Middletown, DE and former member of St. Clement's in Baltimore.
Joanne and her husband Pete enjoyed their grandchildren and being called Nana and Pop Pop. They would take all the grandchildren to the circus every year and loved their time with them. Joanne and Pete also loved to travel and traveled all over the United States but most enjoyed New England.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Peter Parker Wood, Jr. in 2020; a sister Antionette Brickey and brothers Joseph Glorioso, Jr. and Albert Glorioso.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her children, Dennis Mullaney and his wife Rachael of Townsend, DE, Kimberly Ann Mullaney of Betterton, MD, Scott Allen Mullaney of London, England and Peter Parker Wood, III of Pasadena, MD; sisters, Rose Glorioso (Donna Senft) and Mary McPherson (Aaron); a brother John Glorioso; 6 grandchildren Heather Wood, Kyle Sandhoff, Paige Wood, Peter Wood, IV, Julia Mullaney and Ethen Mullaney and 1 great grandchild, Arynn Brown.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 26 from 6 to 8 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 28 at 10 am in St. Joseph Parish, 319 E. Main St., Middletown, DE 19709.
