Jerome Nathaniel Waters was born on March 17, 1953 in Elkton, Maryland to Bernice Waters and the late James A. Waters Sr. He departed this life on Friday, August 18, 2023 at Elkton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elkton, MD at the age of 70.

Jerome graduated from Bohemia Manor High School in 1971 and immediately enlisted in the United States Army.  He served for 20 years and retired as a Sergeant. Jerome enjoyed playing for the Cecilton Raiders and watching football games and Westerns on TV. His nieces affectionately called him Uncle Grumpy.

Jerome is preceded in death by his father, James A. Waters Sr. and his brothers Ronald S. Waters and Gregory Waters.

Jerome leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Katrina Waters, Columbus, GA; his longtime companion Violetta Wesley, Elkton, MD; his mother Bernice Waters, Elkton, MD; his son Jerome Ruley, Dover DE; and two daughters, Kendra Waters, Columbus, GA; Angelica Wesley, Elkton,MD; a devoted stepdaughter Charmaine Wesley, Elkton, MD; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 8 brothers; 5 sisters; 7 sisters-in-law; 1 brother-in-law; 5 aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 31 from 10 - 11:45 am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where funeral service will begin at 12 pm.  Burial will be held privately.
