Jeannette Buhler Parish peacefully passed at home December 11,2024 with her family holding her hands.

Jeannette was born in Miami, FL June 20, 1937.  She attended Oak Grove Seminary for Girls, Vassalboro, ME and Duke University, receiving a BS in Nursing.  Jeannette married Philip Parish of Mathews, VA April 22, 1960 and settled in Galena, MD in 1961, working as an RN at Chestertown Hospital, Washington College Health Center, Home Call and the Kent County Humane Society.

Jeannette lived 63 years on the Sassafras River, her favorite perch overlooking the river and her two boys mischievous activities.  She participated with Phil in the Cruising Club of America, Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia, Tred Avon Yacht Club and as a lifetime member of Biscayne Bay Yacht Club.  She somehow made opportunities for knitting, sewing and needlepointing, well known for her knitted Christmas stockings to every child she met.  Jeannette was a past President of the Embroidery Guild of America and member of Shrewsbury Church.  As a nurse and mother, Jeannette hosted a huge garden and started beekeeping in the early 70's to supplement her all-natural baking and cooking.  Additionally, she was very adept at head shooting white tail deer and reducing the fox population that challenged her chickens.

Jeannette leaves behind husband Philip of 64 years, sister-in-law Barbara Parish, brother-in-law Frederick Meloy of Milton, FL, two sons Ted (Mimi) and Andrew (Christine), four grandchildren Austen (Ashlynd), Logan, Addison, and Spencer and a wonderful community of friends.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her sister Barbara Meloy and grandson Drew.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shrewsbury Church, Kennedyville, MD.  Burial will be private, and a celebration of life will be forthcoming in June, 2025.
