Janice Orr Sharp June 15, 1937 – February 14, 2026
"Her life was a blessing, Her memory a treasure, She is loved beyond words And missed beyond measure."
With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Janice Orr Sharp on February 14, 2026 surrounded by family at the age of 88. Janice was born June 15, 1937 to John and Gladys Orr in Allentown, New Jersey. Janice married Harold Sharp on April 2, 1960 together they shared 65 inseparable years of marriage.
Janice was a woman of warmth, grace, and unwavering devotion to her family. She carried a quiet strength that uplifted those around her and offered kindness freely to all who crossed her path.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and cherished friend. Janice found joy in family gatherings, shared meals, and simple moments that brought hearts together. Her gentle spirit and caring nature left a lasting impression on everyone blessed to know her. Janice was a retired registered nurse, helped on her husband's dairy farm when not working at the local hospital or private-duty case.
She was involved in the sewing classes at Dover Sewing Center, starting with her granddaughters she was known as the sewing grandmom, who helped many young other 4-Hers learn how to sew. She enjoyed her embroidery projects and her trips to the sewing center. Janice was actively involved with the New Jersey Grange for most of her life. When moving to Maryland, she and Harold joined the Sudlersville Ruritan where they helped with many community projects and could always be found in the funnel cake booth.
She is survived by her husband Harold Sharp, sister Arlene Lavelle, 3 children Warren Sharp (Josie)of Dover, DE, Bryan Sharp of Church Hill, MD, Lorraine Moore (Steve) of Sudlersville, MD, 10 grandchildren Jolene Eidle (Eric), Darla (Stephen), Sandy, Sarah (Nathan), Kelly (Amir), Stacy (Ryan), Emily, Melody, Thomas, and Jeffery. She had 4 great-grandchildren Julia, John, Isabell, and Bennett. She is proceeded in death by her parents Gladys and John Orr, her (2) sisters Barbara Frick and Phyllis Earley, and great-grandchildren Madison and Arash. She will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 21 from 10 –11 am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, where funeral service will begin at 11 am. Burial to follow in Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville, MD.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to the Queen Anne's County 4-H Program or the Sudlersville Ruritan General Fund.
