James William Unsworth Jr. 65, Newark, DE passed away on July 1, 2023, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Jimmy was born April 15, 1958, in Wilmington, DE, son of the late James and Mary Unsworth.   He worked for Wilmington Trust Bank for over 30 years as an electrician.

Jimmy was a member of the Elks Lodge 2281, Moose Lodge 646 and the Police & Fire Rod & Gun Club. He was also a long-time resident of Tall Pines Campground and was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Most of all, Jimmy loved spending time with his family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Maryanne Bowers and one grandson, Jason Michael Jr.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kelly Lynn Unsworth; his children Melanie Jackson of Camden, DE, Deloris Unsworth of Newark, DE, Jennifer Unsworth of Upper Darby, PA, James Unsworth 3rd (Corrie) of Smyrna, DE, Josh Asplund  (Lyn) of Wilmington, DE, Tabitha Asplund and Jeremy Asplund, both of Elkton, MD, siblings Joyce Humbertson (Rocky) of Middletown, DE, Patti Skidmore of Newark, DE, 18 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly and his four legged companion Zeus.

A viewing will be held on July 7, 2023 from 5pm-7pm at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen Schaech. The service will start following the viewing at 7pm.

The burial will be held privately at Gracelawn Memorial Cemetery.

A celebration of Life will be held July 8, 2023 at 1pm at the Police & Fire Rod & Gun Club located at 100 Linstone Ave, New Castle, DE 19720.
