James Thomas Thompson, of Worton MD passed away peacefully on October 30, 2023 at Anne Arundel Medical Center Annapolis MD.

James Thomas Thompson, "Jimmy" aka "Manson", was born on October 1, 1961 in Chestertown MD, son of the late David F. Thompson, Sr. and Joyce Beverly Baker Thompson. He was raised in Rock Hall, Maryland until his family moved to Baltimore when he was 7. When he was in his teens his family moved back to the Eastern Shore where he remained. At the age of 22, Jim met his wife Janet and her three sons, two of whom he helped raise until they graduated from high school. Jim was a free spirit and hard worker and lived by "work hard play hard", whether it was boating up the bay between two waterspouts bringing poles up to Butch and Doris for pile driving, sand blasting with JB, restoring homes with Michel and Glen or working on the food truck with Steve. Jim was very family oriented and loved spending time with his grandchildren, who made his world shine. Everyone knew Jim to have a kind nature with a bit of a wild side and a great storyteller and if you needed help, he was right there, sleeves rolled up, ready to help.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Dwayne Thompson, a grandson Dylan, and his beloved friend and companion his basset hound "Babie G".

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janet Hungerford Thompson and three stepsons and their wives, Robert (Kari), Ron (Laura), Chris (Molly): A sister Patricia Coleman: two brothers Leslie Thompson and Richard Thompson; and 6 grandchildren Emma, Aiden, Wesley, Ava, Ethan, Grace along with 2 brothers-in-law Henry Hungerford and Leslie Hungerford and 4 sisters-in-law, Patricia Balsamo, Ellen Call, Judy Sanderson and Donna Rich all from upstate NY, along with many Family and Friends that have been very supportive thru his journey.

I would like to say a great big thank you to his Family Doctor, Dr Ferguson and all of his Staff for all of their support through this journey, they have been there every step of the way. And I cannot leave out his Oncology team in Annapolis Anne Arundel Hospital, they fought hard with Jim until the very end. The Nursing staff at Arundel is the best, most caring group I have ever worked with.

At Jim's request, there will be no funeral services. His request is to have his family and friends gather to celebrate his life. A Celebration of Life is set for November 19th from 2 PM to 5 PM at the Amy Lynn Ferris Senior Center at 200 Schauber Rd Chestertown MD 21620.
