James W. Dees, 75 of Cecilton, MD, passed away on March 21, 2024 at home.

Jimmy was born on January 11, 1949, son of the late Leon Dees Sr. and Dorothy Wilde Dees.

He was raised in Philadelphia, PA, and moved to New Jersey and Delaware before making his home in Cecilton in 1994.  He was a general superintendent for General Motors for 36 years, including work assignments in Michigan and Germany.  He retired in 2007.  Jim was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church in Galena.  He enjoyed traveling for work and pleasure, racing cars at the Cecil County Drag Way and restoring his corvette.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Stephen Dees and Walter Cooper; a sister, Cheryl Rock and grandson Vincent Wright.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 29 years, Mary 'Niecy' Ruley Dees; daughters Andrea Wright (Scott) of Glassboro, NJ and Michelle Smuzinsky (Andrew) of Malaga, NJ; stepchildren Veronica Summers of Sterling, VA and Jerome Ruley of Dover, DE; siblings, Leon Dees, Jr, Linda Puesi (John), Mary Jane Wallace (Tony) and William Wilde (Cathy); 7 grandchildren and special friends, Scott and Robin Moxley.

A viewing will be held on April 6, 2024 from 9 to 11 am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where funeral service will begin at 11 am.
