Irene L. Cotton, 86 of Chestertown, MD passed away on April 21, 2025, at the Resorts at Chester River Manor.

Miss Cotton was born on February 16, 1939, in Kennedyville, MD, daughter of the late James Cotton and Elsie Kennard. She was a lifetime resident of Kent County where she worked for Washington College for many years in addition to working at Friel's and provided housekeeping in the Chestertown area. She had a passion for simple pleasures, including playing bingo and attending the Medical Adult Day Center, where she enjoyed socializing and dancing at their events. She enjoyed Bible Study and loved spending time with her daughter and friends. Known for her love of dressing up, she was often seen wearing her favorite fancy jewelry, adding a touch of sparkle wherever she went.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her son, Eugene Howard, brother James Kennard and close friend, James "Kingfish" Caulk.

Irene is survived by her siblings: Clark Kennard Jr., Donald Thomas Kennard, and Joseph Cotton, and her daughter Lesa Cook of Owings Mills, MD.

A viewing will be held on April 29, 2025 from 10am to 12pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD, with graveside service following in New Christian Chapel of Love Cemetery, Still Pond, MD.
