Hugh E. Dolan Sr., 83 of Galena, MD died peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Hugh was born on January 23, 1941 in Philadelphia, PA to the late John J. Dolan Sr. and Myrtle Hughes Dolan. He worked as an insurance adjuster and eventually owned an autobody shop in Upper Darby. He began visiting Galena in the late 1960's and moved near the Sassafras River in the mid 70's.

Music was one of his passions; he played banjo, guitar, and sang. Hugh was a member of the Eastern Shore Bluegrass and National Rifle Associations. When he wasn't involved with water related activities, he enjoyed treasure hunting, reading about antique guns, and history.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Barbara in 2015, and survived by his children, grandchildren, and brother.

A visitation will be held in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 11 to 12 noon at which time prayers will be held. Burial will follow in the Galena Cemetery.
