Obituary

Herman E. Bedwell, 66 of Still Pond, MD passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on February 16, 2024.

Herman was born on June 15, 1957, son of the late John H and Dorothy Crew Bedwell. He was raised in Kent County and a graduate of Kent County High School. At the age of 12 he began working for the Betterton Arcade and in 1975 the Still Pond Store. His career as a machinist for Dixon Valve & Coupling began in 1983 and he retired in 2020 after 37 years of service.

He was a member of Worton United Methodist Church. Herman loved woodworking, gardening, fishing, model trains, spending time outdoors and time with his family.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law George Dixon.

Mr. Bedwell is survived by his wife of 37 years, Julie J. Bedwell; children, Sara Bedwell (Travis), Charlie Bedwell (Arianna) and Timothy Bedwell; 2 grandchildren Lilly and Daisy Bedwell; brother, John Bedwell (Remy); sisters, Eileen Dixon and Joanne Downs (Al) and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, February 22 from 5 to 7 pm in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena, MD where a funeral service will be held on Friday, February 23 at 11 am. Burial will follow in Still Pond Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be offered to Worton United Methodist Church, PO Box 114, Worton, MD 21678 or Compass Regional Hospice, 160 Coursevall Dr. Centreville, MD 21617.
