Obituary

Helen K. Unruh, 79 of Earleville, MD passed away on August 28th from complications of pancreatic cancer.

Mrs. Unruh, "Kappy", was born on March 20, 1946, in Darby, PA, daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson Steele and Sara McCarty Steele. Her family moved to King of Prussia, PA where she graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School. She earned a teaching certificate from Villanova University. She taught elementary education until her marriage to Edward in 1968.

Kappy was the consummate homemaker. She loved to cook and bake, and her home was always spotless. She spent much of her later life caring for her disabled husband.

Kappy was an avid gardener, filling her home with floral designs, and she volunteered as a Master Gardener in Chester County, PA via Penn State's Master Gardener Extension program. She also held several positions as bank teller, secretary, etc. at various corporations.

Prior to Kappy's illnesses she was athletic and social, and enjoyed shopping, entertaining and traveling with friends.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Edward C. Unruh, infant son Jesse Unruh and daughter Kathleen Unruh.

Mrs. Unruh is survived by her daughter, Shelly Cline of Birdsboro, PA and son Clay Unruh of Seabeck, WA; four siblings, Sally Chambers of Tampa, FL, Eileen Quinlan of Earleville, MD, Linda Burnfield of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Woody Steele of Paoli, PA. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Leonard Cline III of Seattle, WA, Ethan Cline of Shillington, PA, Margaret Cline of Shillington, PA and Jerome Cline of Birdsboro, PA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 8 at St. Dennis Roman Catholic Church, Galena, MD. A private burial was held in St. Dennis Cemetery.
