Helen M. Allen, 101 of Galena, MD, passed away on February 17, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving sister and close friends.

Mrs. Allen was born on November 16, 1919 in South Plainfield, NJ, daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret Gehrke Boosmann.  She had worked as a bookkeeper for many years.  Helen moved to Galena in 1981 and was very community minded. She was a member of Galena Busy Bees, a member of the Board of Directors of Upper Shore Aging from 1996-2004, and a volunteer and entertainer for 18 years at Magnolia Hall Nursing Home. She served on the Galena Election Board and with her sister Dorothy and dear friend Marian Camp, attended as many town meetings and functions as possible.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederic I. Allen in 1980.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her children, Fred Allen and his wife Mary-Jo of Belmar, NJ, and Linda Allen of Dover, DE; a brother Frederick Boosman of Long Beach Island, NJ and a sister Dorothy Abel with whom she lived; 1 grandchild 6 great-grandchildren and innumerous friends.
