Hazel W. "Buddy" Hurtt, of Townsend, DE, passed away on December 1, 2025 at Accent Care Hospice, Christiana Hospital.  Buddy was 68 years old.

He was born on December 16, 1956, son of the late Alfred W. and Myrtle Clough Hurtt. Buddy was raised in Warwick, MD.  He was a graduate of Bohemia Manor High School and attended Cecil Community College for 2 years.  He began working at the age of 12 for Mr. Zay on his strawberry farm and at 18 began his 38-year career with Johnson Controls, retiring in 2012.

Buddy enjoyed riding his Harley with friends, fast cars, classic corvettes and his 1970 Nova, which he would run at the Cecil County Dragway.

He is survived by his wife Darlene Virdin Hurtt, daughter Nicole Lee Richardson of Smyrna, DE; stepdaughter Sherrie Walls of Earleville, MD; sister Jane Youmans of Smyrna, DE and his grandchildren and great grandchildren that loving called him grumpy pop.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 15 at 2 pm at Galena Cemetery, N. Main St. Galena, MD.
