Hazel Dawson Luttrell, 87 of Chestertown, MD passed away on April 29, 2024 at Compass Regional Hospice Center, Centreville, MD.

Hazel was born on January 14, 1937 in Annapolis, MD, daughter of the late Homer Elwood Dawson and Hazel Stallings Dawson.  She was raised in Mayo where her father loved spoiling her.  After her marriage to Richard Luttrell, they moved to the Eastern Shore in 1967 where she raised their family.  Hazel enjoyed knitting, cooking, watching birds and time spent with her family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Richard Luttrell, 2007; her granddaughter, Megan Susan Cullis and siblings, Shirley Crawford, Louise Whetzel and Homer Dawson.

Mrs. Luttrell is survived by her children, Richard Luttrell of Croydon, PA, Melanie Cullis and Cindy Mills both of Chestertown; a sister Dorothy Brashears of Edgewater, MD; a granddaughter Dawn Kirby (Michael) and great grandchildren, Logan, Faith and Hope Kirby.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 3 from 10 to 11 am in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech where a memorial service will begin at 11 am.  Burial will be held privately in Sherwood Cemetery, Sherwood, MD.
