Obituary

Hazel Louise Harrison, 78,  passed away peacefully surrounded by love after a brief, courageous, and faith-filled battle with cancer, on December 23,2025.

Hazel was born on August 26, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, to Anthony and Lucy Delnicki Garafola. From an early age, she was guided by strong family values and a deep-rooted Catholic faith that remained the foundation of her life. Hazel shared a devoted marriage with her loving husband, Gene Harrison. Together, they pursued their passion for harness horse racing, competing throughout New York and Canada. Their partnership on and off the track was marked by dedication, teamwork, and joy.

A faithful servant of God, Hazel was an active member of St. Dennis Catholic Church, where her faith was lived through service. One of her greatest joys was teaching Religious Education, helping children grow in their understanding of God's love.

She also served her community as a Paraprofessional at Kent County High School, where she was known for her kindness, patience, and care for students.

Hazel's life was a reflection of her faith—rooted in love, service, and compassion. She will be remembered for her gentle and loving spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to her family, her church, and her community.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well  as life long friends, Buck and Jo Norris.

She is survived by her loving family , Becky and Mark  Healey, Scott Norris, Kari Healey (Wyatt Mallory), Kevin Healey (Vicki Scott), and Kelly Healey , her husband's family in Canada ,as well as many cherished friends and colleagues.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 2 at 11am at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 153 N. Main St. Galena, MD, with burial following at St. Dennis Cemetery.
