Harold Leroy Sharp

March 7, 1935 – April 25, 2026

Harold Leroy Sharp, 91, of Millington, Maryland, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Saturday, April 25, 2026. He has now joined his beloved wife, Janice, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage in Heaven, who passed on February 14, 2026.

Harold was born on March 7, 1935, in Masonville, New Jersey. He experienced the loss of his father at the young age of 12. Despite this hardship, his family was able to maintain their farm, where Harold and his brother, Rodger, later established Sharp Brothers Dairy.

In 1960, Harold married the love of his life, Janice (Orr), and together they raised three children: Warren, Bryan, and Lorraine. The family was deeply involved in 4-H, proudly showing dairy cows and embracing opportunities to learn new skills and project areas over the years.

After his brother retired from farming in 1983, Harold continued operations until the farm was sold and developed in 1986, along with the herd and equipment. He then began working for Lester C. Jones Family Farms Inc. in Lumberton, New Jersey, where he cared for calves for 10 years. When the Jones family relocated their Holstein herd to Massey, Maryland, Harold and Janice followed, continuing both his work and their close connection to family. They cherished being near their grandchildren and rarely missed an event. Harold remained with Jones Family Farms in Maryland for several more years before retiring.

Harold was a lifelong member of the New Jersey State Grange. After moving to Maryland, he became an active member of the Sudlersville Ruritan Club, where he was honored as Ruritan of the Year. He took great joy in volunteering at the funnel cake booth at community events, helping raise funds for local needs and scholarships for students pursuing college or trade school after graduation.

He especially enjoyed supporting local youth and watching them achieve their goals while learning life skills, especially his grandchildren at the Queen Anne’s County Fair, and Maryland State Fair over the years.

Harold also cherished weekly Thursday trips to Dover with Janice. While she attended classes at the Dover Sewing Center, Harold enjoyed shopping trips with her, sharing packed lunches and dinners before returning home to Millington.

Harold is survived by his three children: Warren Sharp (Josie) of Dover, Delaware, Bryan Sharp of Church Hill, Maryland, and Lorraine (Steve) Moore of Sudlersville, Maryland; ten grandchildren: Jolene Eidle (Eric), Darla Sharp (Stephen), Sandy Sharp, Sarah Walters (Nathan), Kelly Moore Kohanpur (Amir), Stacy Faber (Ryan), Emily, Melody, Thomas, and Jeffrey Sharp; and four great-grandchildren: Julia, John, Isabela, and Bennett.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel R. and Mary (Angelow) Sharp; his brother, Rodger; his sister, Marjorie F. Ballentine; his wife, Janice; and great-grandchildren Madison and Arash.

Harold will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Sudlersville Cemetery.
