Harry Edward Fisher, Jr., 90, of Earleville, MD passed away on November 20, 2025 at Christina Care-Union Hospital, Elkton, MD.

Rev. Fisher, known as Ed, was born on June 1, 1935 in Buckeystown, MD, son of the late Emma Shull Fisher James and Harry Edward Fisher, Sr., and stepson of the late Thomas "Keggy" James. He was a 1953 graduate of Frederick High School, where he was senior class President and played short stop on the baseball team. He furthered his education at Gettysburg College and was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He also sang with the choral group alongside his cousin Rev. Jack Little. In 1958 he married Iris McDannell Fisher, and they had two daughters, Beth and Lisa. He earned his Divinity degree from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg and became a Lutheran Pastor.

Early in his career, Rev. Fisher served Grace and Zion Churches in Frederick County, MD, and St. Paul's congregation in Hanover, PA. In 1967 Rev. Fisher and his family moved to Newark, DE where he became the Lutheran Campus Pastor at the University of Delaware and associate Pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Rev. Fisher later served at Zion Lutheran Church in Wilmington, DE. He continued to grow, and became a marriage and family therapist at Tressler Center in Wilmington, DE.

Ed married Bonnie Fisher (née Barber) in 1986 and together they raised a daughter, Rachel. After retirement, his passion for helping families, as a family and marriage counselor, continued in his work at Dover AFB, Washington College, and private practice. Ed fully retired in 2014.

Ed loved sports, especially the Baltimore teams. He was an accomplished tennis player, and loved boating, fishing, and crabbing. Ed could be found at any occasion taking photographs and loved sharing the memories he created with others. He was a tremendous vocalist and shared his basso voice as a member of the Delaware Valley Chorale and the Mary Green singers with whom he traveled to France, Italy, and Israel.

Rev. Fisher is predeceased by his parents; his wife of nearly 40 years, Bonnie Lee Fisher (July 2025); a brother David S. James, and a sister Elizabeth James.

Rev. Fisher is survived by his daughters Elizabeth J. Fisher (Adam, deceased 2020) of New Britain, CT, Lisa Fisher Rutkowski (Joseph) of Lewes, DE, and Rachel V. Fisher (Jeff) of Earleville, MD; two brothers William James (Jackie) of Enterprise, AL, and Wayne James (Sharon) of Roswell, GA; and two grandchildren Brittany Rutkowski (Erik) of Charlotte, NC, and Conrad Rutkowski of Lewes, DE.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4 from 1 to 2 pm at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, MD with a Celebration of Life at 2 pm.
