George R. Sproates, 85 of Galena, MD passed away on October 19, 2024 at Cadia Healthcare -Broadmeadow, Middletown, DE.

Mr. Sproates was born on December 16, 1938 in Kent County, son of the late Anna Moffett and William H. Sproates, Sr.  After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force with duty in Japan.  George worked for Dupont as an insulator for 20 years.    He enjoyed hunting and fishing and 'Chips' his beloved chocolate lab.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Betty Kelly and a brother William H. Sproates, Jr.

Mr. Sproates is survived by his children Susie Smith of Elkton and George F. Sproates of Delaware and nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 25 at 2pm in Galena Cemetery, Galena, MD.
